Brief Personality: Protective of those he considers his people, ruthless when the situation calls for it, flirts with everyone, passionate, has fallen in love with Earth as a planet, loyal to his friends and the family he's built for himself. Has an adventurous streak, and often forgives friends a bit more easily than some think he ought. | |
| Brief History: Born on a backwater planet, the first to go to the Time Agency's Academy, one of the best Time Agents. Met the Doctor while he was on a mission, while the Doctor was on his eighth regeneration. He declined the offer to travel with him, pointing out that he had a job he couldn't just leave, even though he'd be doing much the same if he traveled with the Doctor.
He continued to work for the Agency, and met the Doctor (on regeneration nine this time) again in 1969, while trying to figure out what had happened to Buzz Aldrin. He met Vain York, the Doctor's companion at the time, as well, and the three of them solved the puzzle, and got the launch off without more than a brief delay. This time he did travel with the Doctor, as it was the only way to get away from the base still in one piece - the people who replaced Buzz Aldrin with their agent had fried Jack's Vortex manipulator when they were thwarted. They fought the Nestene Consciousness in London, and they added a fourth to their crew, a shop-girl named Rose Tyler who had rescued the Doctor herself while Jack and Vain had been fighting Autons elsewhere. They traveled together a while longer, before the Doctor dropped Vain off in New York City in 1994. Jack, Rose, and the Doctor traveled together for a while longer, adventuring across space and time until they ran into Daleks in the 2001st century. Jack was killed while trying to give the Doctor time to build a Delta Wave, then revived in time to see the TARDIS dematerialize. He hitched a ride back to Earth, helping to rebuild, and got some assistance fixing his Vortex Manipulator, only to have it short out again after he used it trying to go back to the twenty-first century, and landing in 1869 instead. He lived and died and lived some more for the next century, careful to stay away from places he knew he'd been before. He watched Vain when she came from the fey Halls, he watched Rose as a child. He met Vain in New York in 1994, and told her what had happened. She decided to gather some empirical evidence for his claim. She also replaced his shirt afterwards, though she never has apologized. He stayed in contact with her, and later met the man they partnered her up with at the DSLE, a Doctor Max St. Claire. In 2014, when Rhia was born, Jack was there. He was her godfather, and when Max and Vain updated their wills, he was named as one of Rhia's guardians should anything happen to them. He wasn't exactly sure about that idea, with his own job, and his rather firm certainty that he'd make an atrocious parent, but didn't argue too much. He moved his office up to a recently renovated building on the surface once the connections to the Hub itself were established, in 2018. There are other offices, mostly public access, in the building, as well as a creche for employees to drop off their children when they were called in at odd hours, and a small classroom and library. In 2024, when Rhia was visiting, an anti-alien terrorist attacked Cardiff, and nearly took out the public building of Torchwood. The handful of children there at the time were mostly evacuated, but Rhia hid in Jack's offce instead of staying with the others, like she was told. Jack went back in to get her out when he realized she wasn't safely out, and was killed by a sniper as they exited the building. The building has just been restored, and Jack was about to step into his office, and he ended up in what appears to be a rather large library instead. He's not sure exactly where he is, or why he's there instead of in his office, but that's a question he's going to worry about later, as he's curious as to what, and who is here. |
