Brief Personality: Koschei is like any eight year old who hasn't had the opportunity to experience as much life as he would like to. His curiosity and thirst for knowledge is rivaled only by that of his best friend, and he will go to any lengths to do or learn something that he really wants to, even if it has a likelihood to end badly. Koschei, however, is also rather insecure in his abilities. He knows that he's brilliant, but with so much brilliance all around him, he's worried whether he's going to be able to prove himself to be worthy enough for his House (who standards are ridiculously high). Because of this, he often gets irrationally angry is he finds himself faced with something that he doesn't understand or someone who seems to think that they can play him for a fool. More than anything, though, he likes to be liked. | |
| Brief History: A member of the highly respected Newblood House Oakdown, Koschei spent much of his childhood being drilled on proper procedure and decorum. Fun was not something that his family thought was conducive to his education. Lessons were the main part of the day to day life, and actually getting outside and seeing Gallifrey was next to impossible unless he accompanied an adult of his House.
It wasn't until he was taken from his family that Koschei had any understanding of just what fun and freedom were. The evening after the initiation ceremony at the Untempered Schism, jammed into the dorms with all of the other boys, Koschei struggled to calm the pounding headache that had developed since peering into the Time Vortex when the boy in the bunk next to him offered to help with some sort of crackpot remedy that he'd learned from some sort of Hermit. The problem was that they needed Nitvil, and it wasn't as though that would just be laying around in the dorms. After sneaking out, wandering down by the banks of the river Lethe looking for the plant, and then getting caught and dragged back to the Academy by their ears, Koschei and the boy who'd offered to help him, Theta, were next to inseparable. As their lessons started, the most brilliant their class individuals of gravitated toward each other. While Koschei still considered Theta to be his best friend, he soon became close friends with Magnus, Ushas, Drax, Rallon, Ruath, Vansell, and Millennia. Still, Theta was the only one of the group who would happily skip lessons and risk the punishments with him just to get outside of the stifling walls of the Academy. Theta is also the only one that knows about his constant headaches, the pounding of drums that echo in the back of his mind no matter what he does to try and quiet them. |
