Brief Personality: responsible, chivalrous, brave. A bit confused about why he's on the TARDIS (he expected the Doctor wouldn't let him come along with). Guilty about leaving his men behind - and concerned with Tosh's safety, which is why he left in the first place. | |
| Brief History: American volunteer pilot in the RAF, joined in 1940. Stationed in Cardiff, was at the Ritz on 20 January 1941 for the "Kiss the Boys Goodbye" Dance, and found a young woman outside looking lost and bewildered. He asked her what was wrong, and offered to help, finding out more about the Rift running through Cardiff than he wanted.
He covered for her, telling others at the dance that she was a code-breaker, and her usual escort had been called away. He kept with her through a bombing, as well as making sure she had someplace to stay that night, as Torchwood was unable to find a way to bring her home. A couple days later, after a near-miss during a training run, he met the Doctor, who was chatting with Tosh, and when the Doctor offered to take Tosh with him, Jack insisted on going along as well, to make sure she made it back home safe. He didn't expect to end up someplace completely unfamiliar without the Doctor or the TARDIS, but he's determined to watch out for Tosh anyway. He's not aware that history records that he never reported in for duty the next morning, and his disappearance is one of the unsolved mysteries of Cardiff. |
