"Don't you miss it?" |
"No. Work keeps me ... extremely busy." Except when it didn't. Or when it shouldn't but she let it do so anyway. |
"The work you can't talk about." |
"Yep! Hey, is that an exit?" |
Donna opened the door, letting sunshine in. "Bugger me.' |
Tosh tilted her face in to the sun and breathed deeply. She stepped outside and looked up and down the street.
"It's ... " No where she'd ever seen or been. "... sort of quaint." |
"It's the boonies." |
"Keep an eye out for a newspaper stand," Tosh said. |
"Oh, clever that," Donna started looking, peering in shop windows for magazines or newspapers too. |
"Time, date and place, all in one go," Tosh said and smiled, heading for the next window. |
"If it works." |
"Not a lot of information to be found, is there?" Tosh said, sighing and putting one hand to her forehead, the other to her hip as she scanned the street. She squinted looking toward the far end.
"Does that look like an inn to you?" |
"With a bar." Donna said, enthusiastically. |
"Where there's alcohol, there's people. Let's go." |
Donna grabbed Tosh's hand in an extremely heterosexual manner. She was just nervous. |
Tosh looked down at their hands but didn't say anything, just gave her a quick squeeze and pulled her toward the inn. |
"Now this looks like a pub," she said, way more relaxed. |
"Looks pretty normal, huh?" Tosh asked with a smile. "Stick together or split up and see what we can find out?" |
"Meet you back here in an hour?" |
"Make it a half-hour, sooner if you figure the way out." |
"Deal," Donna let go of Tosh and wandered to the bar. No hurt getting a drink. |
