"What differences in the universe?" |
"How Torchwood is funded, run, and who's in charge. Canary Warf was stopped before it happened." |
"...Was it," Ianto asked, politely blank. "That is a change." |
"It is," he agreed. "And apparently one that leads down a road to some really kinky sex." |
"....I know kinky, Jack. That's not kinky." Ianto was seriously never getting over that. |
"Do you really? What's kinky, then?" |
"I thought you said we'd had sex." |
"Think of it as another check between our memories." |
"Is 'I don't do dirty talk' a check?" |
"No kidding," he said dryly. "Try clinical instead of dirty." |
"Light bondage, mild sensory play, toys." Ianto recited, voice calm and face red. |
He put his hand out on the table, palm up between them. "Top or bottom?" |
Ianto covered Jack's palm with his own, "Who?" |
He wove his fingers up and through, silently offering support - even if he didn't really trust much of anyone. "You." |
He smiled slightly before frowning, "Depends, but usually top, once you trusted me." |
"That's why," Jack said, gently, "I started the count over, after Lisa." |
"Ah," Ianto rubbed his thumb over Jack's wrist lightly, "Thank you." |
He curled his fingers around Ianto's, and watched him. Hesitating, debating, deliberating, working through something, in a very calm, steady and obvious way. |
Ianto raised an eyebrow, "You should finish eating, sir. You look like you need it." |
He took a drink of his coffe, instead. "You and the others opened the Rift." |
"Me and the others which means you didn't," Ianto frowned, "You were dead?" |
"Owen shot me when I tried to stop you." He paused. "I went to try to stop what was happening, and I was dying, but before I did, I fell through to here. I don't know what's going on, but I have got to find a way to get back there." |
"You fell through the rift. That we opened without you. What the hell, Jack?" |
He shook his head. "I don't know," he admitted. "Rhys was killed, Bilis Manger was playing at something, manipulating you all to get you there, but as to what actually happened, or what that means, I just don't know." |
Ianto's brows drew together while he thought, pressing his tongue against the back of his teeth. "Maybe to get you here?" |
"The last time the rift opened Bilis was involved, and I landed in 1941. Is that what you're thinking?" |
"How should I know, you didn't tell me that and it hasn't happened yet. But that makes it even more likely. He needs you not there for something." |
"I'd forgotten I was ahead of you. I really need to find a way to make sure that when I do get back there, it's the time and place I left. Presumably what I was doing was going to work." |
"What were you doing?" |
"Dying." He stopped, and backed up. "The thing that he set lose feeds on life. I was trying to ...overfeed it." |
"Or maybe you're really dead and this is where you go when you die." |
"I've been dead, Ianto. This is not where you go when you die." |
"Not pe-" He took a deep breath, "Okay. You're out of time. You need to find a way back. Let's try to find it." |
"Not permenantly?" He asked, or anticipated. "And I will, but out of time means that I can take my time - and hopefully go back in better condition than I left." |
"So food and sleep," he squeezed Jack's hand gently before pulling away. |
He started tugging his hand back at the squeeze. "Food, research, and then sleep." He pushed his chair back. "Let me know if you find anything out." |
"Of course, Captain," Ianto picked up his coffee and wandered back towards the kitchen. |
Jack cleared his dishes and wandered off to find a door that led outside. |
