"Why scary?" |
"Complete change." |
"And that's scary, because it's. Completely new?" he was trying. |
"And startling. And just. So different." |
"And you knew him before and after?" He continued to try. |
He nodded, "Sorry, being confusing. But yeah." |
"So, every cell different's like a new person?" |
"Total body change, different chemicals and stuff so. Different personality.' |
"So the person just. Turns into someone else." |
"Well. He's an alien, isn't he?" |
"I don't find it weird," he clarified. "Just sad for you." |
"Why?" |
"Because the person you knew just vanished, didn't they? It's not even dead, so you can't really grieve." |
"Yeah," he said after a moment, "I liked the person who came after though." |
He smiled and leaned forward and kissed Rowan on the forehead. "That's good." |
Rowan grinned, blushed. "Thank you." |
"For what?" |
"The kiss." |
"You don't have to thank me for that." |
"Sure I do," he said easily, holding his sun catcher up. |
He peered at Rowan through the colored light. "Why?" |
"Why do I?" |
"Yeah." He pushed the suncatcher gently, sending light and shadow bouncing about. |
"Because it's polite." |
"Isn't thanks an expression of gratitude?" |
"Generally." |
"Okay,' he said, and actually stopped pressing. |
"You okay?" |
"Yeah," he said, and then paused for half-a-second. "Kind of worried about you," he admitted, "but all right." |
"Why worried?" |
"I don't know. I guess I'm over-protective or something." |
"Of what?" |
"I brought up a topic that seems a little sad and is personal. So you." |
He kissed Brant's cheek, "Let's change it." |
"Let's go get thowse fries," he said, and hopped down. |
