Rowan doodled in boredom, half asleep with his other hand holding his head up. He was barely awake and it showed, head drooping and hair looking limp as the rest of him. |
"You know," Adam started, hands in his pockets as he crossed the room to stand next to the unfamiliar individual, "sleep is what people usually do when they get in this state. Not draw." |
Rowan's head snapped up, waking suddenly and looking confused, "Adam?" |
"Yeah?" Adam replied, running through his mental catalog of faces that he knew. This wasn't one of them. |
Rowan groaned, quietly, then offered his hand, 'Hi, I'm Rowan Tyler." |
Adam laughed for a moment as he reached out and took the hand, shaking it, "Let me guess... You're Rose, but you're not Rose. Am I close?" |
"That's sort of how I'm understanding it, yeah," he smiled a bit, trying to gage when Adam was from. |
"Well, this is I development I have to admit I didn't expect," Adam said, laughing as he raised a hand to run through his hair. |
"It's kind of hard to anticipate," Rowan said sympathetically. |
"I suppose there's no chance that I didn't actually screw up in your universe, is there?" |
He looked sympathetic, nose wrinkling, "Define screw up?" |
Adam snapped his fingers, the port opening in his head, "Defined enough?" |
"...Yeah, you did," Rowan said making a face. |
Adam snapped his fingers again, closing the port, "There's got to be some reality where I'm not an utter moron." |
"How long's it been for you?" |
"Probably not as long as it's been for you." |
"A couple of years," he nodded. |
"A week for me, and most of that has been here." |
"...Oh." Rowan studied Adam a little worriedly. |
"Yeah," Adam said after a moment before sighing. "Mum felt it necessary to snap her fingers when she came in the house. Ran to my room to hide, came out here." |
"Damn," he sighed "Sorry, Adam."
It was casual, but not unkind. |
Adam shrugged. He wasn't going to worry about it. He'd have to go back and face it eventually, yeah, but hopefully when he did, he'd be half pissed, at least enough not to give a damn. |
