She didn't crack a smile as she threw the levers, pressing buttons, and all but glared at the jury-rigged console as she sent the TARDIS dematerializing, despite the Doctor's frantic attempts to stop her, and get the doors back open for her companions. The Master didn't want them in here, didn't want them to interfere with her plans.
Besides, that would give the Doctor allies against her, and it was bad enough that this was the Doctor's TARDIS in the first place. Though she was responding well to the Master's input.
Well, so the Master thought, until the jolt of landing told her something was wrong. She glanced at the screens, frowning slightly in puzzlement. She'd intended to take them into the Vortex, then find a place she could deposit the Doctor that was out of the way in time and space while she worked on returning to the power she deserved. This... wasn't the Vortex, and it wasn't someplace she recognized as safely out of the way, either. |
"Hah!" The Doctor gave the Master a triumphant smile before bolting to the door, throwing it open, and halted, her smile fading as she stared at what was outside. This wasn't Malcassario. In fact, if anything, it appeared to be a hotel. A hotel bar. Twentieth or twenty-first century Earth, if she didn't miss her guess. She whirled to glare at the Master a moment. "Where are we?" |
"Why don't you find out?" The Master fiddled with the controls a bit longer, hoping she'd be able to lock the Doctor out, at least. |
The Doctor glared a moment longer before stomping out the door, muttering under her breath a moment before whirling, raising her voice. "Let's talk, you said. Work things out." The Doctor gave the Master a rude and angry gesture. "You kidnapped me! In my own bloody TARDIS!" |
The Master merely shrugged, already looking around at the place they'd landed. Not too shabby, if a bit bland. "You need to calm down, Doctor." |
"CALM DOWN?" The Doctor threw up her hands in exasperation before stomping away. "Bloody bitch. Calm down, she says," she muttered, not bothering to look back at the Master as she leaned against the bar. "You've gotten us lost, more likely than not, and you're telling me to calm down?" she asked, louder. |
"Getting upset isn't helping us find out where we are," the Master pointed out, carefully closing the door to the TARDIS. They didn't need someone else getting in, and making the situation worse. "Though, I would think you'd notice we're in a bar, inside a hotel, if you had eyes." |
"You... Oh!" The Doctor threw up her hands in exasperation. "You're a pain in the arse, you know that?" |
"Always." The Master tilted her head, then turned away, looking over the bar. "I think I'll see what fun I can have. You figure out where we are." |
"Oh, no you don't!" The Doctor lunged, grabbing at the Master's arm. "You're not going to go torment innocent people just because you didn't end up where you wanted to go. Wherever that was." |
The Master looked pointedly at the Doctor's hand on her arm, before looking up to give the Doctor herself the same glare. "I'll do as I please, and if you want to get back to your precious companions, maybe you should find out where we are, and why the TARDIS isn't registering any Time Vortex, or any time at all." |
"What?" The Doctor let the Master go, darting for her TARDIS. "No time?" She turned to glare over her shoulder, and froze, before sighing, and giving into the desire to bang her head against the wall. "Right. Never turn my back on her, or she goes and runs off to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting population." |
