"Yeah. I live in Cardiff." |
"How long?" |
"A long damned time. A hundred and forty-" He lifted his eyebrows. "Huh." |
Jamie smiled sweetly, "Are you feeling okay?" |
"Yeah," he agreed. "That's kind of cool." |
"What?" |
"The timing." |
"Oh my god," Jamie sighed, "Nevermind, we're leaving it. Who's here and interesting?" |
"The Doctor, Ianto, Owen, Tosh, Gwen, Another Ianto and Owen, Gwen, a couple of other Doctors, another me, the Master, Rose." |
Jamie abruptly looked queasy. |
"What?" |
"Ianto, Owen, Gwen and Tosh are great and all. But who's the Master? And the Doctor and Rose are here?" |
"The Master is apparently a genocidal maniac who's running for Prime Minister. The Doctor and Rose are here, yeah. " |
"...Awkward. What happened to Harriet Jones?" |
"She was apparently tired and retired from office to get more sleep."
...Not a politics person. |
"And admirable goal?" Jamie said, sounding confused. |
"I guess." He shrugged and looked pained. |
"What?" Jamie asked, automatically reaching for Jack's arm. |
He didn't mind. "I don't know. I never understood what happened there." |
"Happened where?" he double checked. |
"The abrupt loss of office. Not the ash and the explosion and the Doctor." |
"The what?" |
"Does your father have a hand in a jar?" |
"I sincerely hope not, that's creepy." |
"Ah. Never mind then," he said, sheepishly. |
"You have the Doctor's hand in a jar, Jack?" |
"Of course not. That's creepy." he lied badly. |
"Don't you have blood samples?" |
"What kind of blood samples," he asked, shiftily. |
"...The Doctor's blood samples from his time in Unit." |
He lifted his eyebrows and smiled, serenely. |
"Okay, then you do. Why do you need a hand then?" |
"Who said I had a hand?" |
"You're a bad liar," he said vaguely. |
"You came out of my ass, you have no room to be insulting anyone." |
"Yes, yes, where half a galaxy has gone before." |
"Where half the galaxy has came, not gone. You, you just went." |
"I did," Jamie agreed, "Shame on me." |
"I'm sure he made you pay for it later." |
"No," he shook his head. |
"That part was a joke." |
"He doesn't regret me." he sounded a bit like he was convincing himself. |
"I'm sure he doesn't," he said, very seriously. |
"I really hope he's here," Jamie said thoughtfully. |
"Why?" |
"I need his advice about something," Jamie said vaguely. |
"About what?" |
"You wouldn't be able to help." |
"Tell me anyway." |
He rolled his eyes, "Fine. I just had my first regeneration and I'm starting to worry it's going badly and that's why I'm in this crazy place." |
He rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Not unless the Doctor's really crazy and hallucinating himself here, too." |
"Pardon me?" |
"He's here, isn't he? Several times over." |
"You said that," he nodded, "I can't cross into his timeline." |
"Why not?" |
"Because then I won't be born," he said sounding like he was reciting. |
"I don't think that's how it works." |
"Paradox." |
"No." He shook his head. |
"What?" |
"No. " |
"Yes it does," he argued. |
"No, it doesn't." |
"If I cross into his timestream before I'm born it'll mess up his and everything will be a mess." |
"Why?" |
"...What do you mean why? Isn't it obvious?" |
"No. It's not obvious. You are not part of his timeline. The only way you could mess it up is by changing something, or crossing into your OWn timeline." |
"He's got half my genetic material in him! That's crossing my own timeline. Technically." |
"No, it's not." |
"I'd want to change his timeline anyway." |
"Why?" |
"I'm a naughty man?" |
"No, I mean what do you want to change?" |
"I'd want to go with him." |
"Why?" |
