Lisa hadn't been able to go back to her world and the world here had Ianto. A Ianto that wasn't the one she knew. One that didn't know her and so, she'd found a door with a place that wasn't anything like home. It hadn't taken very long though before she got bored and ventured out back into the hotel or hub or whatever it was.
She got a cup of decent coffee and sat down to watch the people walking by. |
The Doctor hummed as she walked through the hotel lobby, her step bouncy, and yet another bag full of interesting bits she'd found around town slung over one shoulder. The light outside hadn't started to fade yet, so when she spotted the woman sitting alone with a mug, she stopped, setting the bag down as she plopped into the seat next to her.
"Hello! I thought you looked a little lonely, sitting all by yourself." She smiled brightly, holding out her hand. "I'm the Doctor, and you are?" |
"Lisa Hallett," Lisa stated softly as she took The Doctor's hand and arched a brow. "The Doctor?" That seeemed rather arrogant to Lisa, but this whole place was fairly weird. |
"Just the Doctor." She reached over, picking up Lisa's mug, and sniffing at the contents. "Oh." She wrinkled her nose, setting it back down, and shoving it away.
"Sorry, don't like coffee. Just doesn't smell right to me. Much prefer tea, or something fruity. They have a really nice drink with bananas and mangos here. I keep telling everyone they should try it, I suppose I sound a bit of an advertisement, wouldn't you think? I mean, I just found it really tasty, and it's good for you, if you ignore the rather large amount of ethenol in it." |
Lisa arched a brow, "I'd prefer it if you kept your hand and nose off my mug thank you very much." Honestly, the gall of the woman. Touching her drink like they were familiars. She lifted a hand and signaled the waitress for a fresh cup. |
The Doctor shrugged, refraining from pointing out that her nose hadn't actually touched the mug. Barely.
"Oh, I mean, I did enjoy the occassional mug of coffee in my last regeneration, and Jack certainly loved her morning cup of coffee. Practically wasn't human until she'd had at least one cup. And she insisted it had to be coffee, and nevermind that tea has caffeine as well, and was already on the TARDIS before she ever arrived."
She waved a dismissive hand, wrinkling her nose. "And it took me months to get it all out of the TARDIS after she left, and along comes Mark, wonderful medical student, and he is just as fond of it as Jack. Though at least he was more willing to settle for a nice strong cup of tea." |
The woman was babbling and Lisa just let it wash over her and nodded on occasion. Clearly the woman was not quite right in the head. "What is the TARDIS?" |
"Time and Relative Dimension in Space. My ship, and even though she's a cranky old girl sometimes, she still gets me where I need to go." The Doctor frowned. "If not always where I want to go." She brightened up again, almost as if she hadn't frowned at all. "I could show you, you know, I have her here with me. Was planning on doing some repairs, and I really ought to find Kurt, and let him know I unlocked the TARDIS so he could get in. He offered to give me a hand with the repairs, which is always nice, even though I'm capable of doing them myself." |
Lisa was still trying to follow the bit about a ship. "Wait....you have a ship?" Maybe she should have stayed in her nice little village. Or come back and found Ianto, at least some version of him and gotten a nice shag instead of sitting her talking to a clearly mentally unbalanced woman. |
