Jamie was wearing a suit.

Jamie looked a trifle ridiculous in a suit, like a child in his father's clothes, all gawky angles and too big eyes. He ran his fingers through his hair as he wandered in, looking around, wide eyed.
Rhia grinned when she saw Jamie, skipping over towards him. "Jamie! Guess who I found! And he took me shopping, isn't the dress he got me pretty?"

She clasped her hands behind her, bouncing on her toes. She'd spent an hour dragging Jack from shop to shop until she'd found the dress she wanted, and the stockings and shoes, and she was quite proud of herself. All dressed in green and black and white, with her hair braided down her back.
Jamie made a spinning gesture with a finger, indicating she should spin, "D- Jack found you then?"
Rhia twirled, giggling. "Yup!" She looked over her shoulder, looking for Jack. "He's wearing a green jacket to match my dress, so I can find him easily. And so I don't mistake him for other Jacks."
"That was very well thought out," he complimented.

Because he was so sure it wasn't Jack's idea.
Rhia beamed. "Thank you." She rocked on her toes a moment, looking around the room again. "I've never been to a party before. Not unless it was somebody's birthday. And then it's just kids, and it's not like this." She sounded fascinated and a little awed.
"Why not?"
"'Cause nobody wants to have a party like this that can pay for it. Eirian likes small parties, an' Daffyd likes to go to the beach for his birthday, an' Al'kita doesn't want a party, an' Marcus doesn't either, an' Mum won't let Uncle Jack or Gran or anybody but her an' dad pay for my birthday, so we mostly have cake and ice cream and presents and sometimes we go to Central Park."

She sighed, looking at the dance floor wistfully. "An' mum doesn't celebrate her birthday, 'cause she can't remember when it was, an' dad takes us all to Aberdeen for his birthday. And I have to stay with the babies, and it's boring."
Jamie tried to make all of that make sense, but in the end he nodded casually and comfortably.
Rhia drew in a breath, and shook her head. "But that's back home, and not here." She looked up at Jamie, her expression pleading a little. "Can you show me how to dance? Gran says it's important to know how to dance, but nobody's taught me how."
"What kind of dancing would you like to do?" he asked, holding his hand out.
Rhia tilted her head a moment. "Can you show me how to waltz?"
"Yes," he said easily, pulling her gently onto the dance floor.
